Laurence Manning - Video Game Pianist

laurence

Laurence received a classical education at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, then at the Université de Montréal where she completed a doctorate in piano interpretation in December 2018.

Laurence first specialized in video game music in 2016 by creating her own piano arrangements that she posted on her YouTube channel. She founded the trio Trifantasy with Karine Bouchard and Jean Despax with whom she writes original video game music arrangements for piano, violin and cello. Being passionate about Geek culture, she is also the pianist for the Ensemble Vocal Trame Sonore, the official choir for the Orchestre à Vents de Musiques de Films. Since she made her first videoclip in 2018, and after she launched her first two singles inspired by The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past, she is now working on her début solo video game music album “Game Music Piano Album”, which will be released in May 2019.

In her concerts, Laurence performs her video game arrangements, including modern and retro games: Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mario, Kirby, Shovel Knight, Golden Sun, Castlevania, among others on the program. Her arrangements are rich and unique and are a tribute to video games and their composers.

Montreal Anime Orchestra

OAM

L’OAM, short for L’Orchestre d’Anime de Montreal, is a Montreal-based mixed ensemble recently founded by Melissa Tardif. Since her humble beginnings arranging music for the choir in the Otakuthon closing ceremonies three years ago, Melissa has gone on to arrange the music for the 2018 opening ceremony’s hit performance of Tank! from Cowboy Bebop. The positive reception of the act and the general lack of musical ensembles that cater to the Montreal anime community inspired her to create this budding organization.  L’OAM will have its debut performance at Otakuthon 2019.

Featuring a rock band, chamber orchestra, and vocalists, L’OAM specializes in anime music featuring your favorite OPs, EDs, and general OSTs from a variety of genres.

Come and relive some of the music from your favorite anime with us!

Also, we cosplay.
