Screenings

Screening Rooms

For your viewing pleasure, there will be several screening rooms running all weekend long. Our diverse video programming will feature anime - from old favorites to the latest releases, Asian live action shows, wacky Japanese game shows, amateur parodies, and anime music videos (AMVs).

Our screening schedule will feature some of the following theme blocks:

  • Old School Anime: A selection of anime shows from the 70's, 80's, and the early 90's.
  • Shounen-ai (Yaoi) Celebration: Boy-love-Boy anime series involving romantic situations between 2 (or more) male characters.
NOTE: Some shows may not be suitable for a younger audience, 16+.
  • Harem Love: One guy (usually a loser) surrounded by many, MANY, cute anime girls vying (for some dumb reason) for his attention.
  • 15 Minute Anime Theatre: As the name implies, a collection of anime shows that are 15 minutes or less.
  • Ecchi Fanservice: Explore the racier side of anime in these shows filled with sexual humor or have large amounts of panty shots and jiggling breasts.
NOTE: Some shows may not be suitable for a younger audience, 14+.
  • Otakus Are Us: Anime dedicated to stories about a subject that we should all know about well - the hardcore anime fan A.K.A OTAKUS.

Live Action Room

A programming track dedicated to anime inspired live action TV shows and movies like GTO, Nodame Cantabile and Jigoku Shoujo, popular dramas like Akihabara@DEEP SEARCH and Densha Otoko, and popular (and somewhat wacky) Japanese game shows.

Fan Parodies

Although otakus love their anime, they also love it when fans make fun and hilarious parodies of their favourite series like This is Otakudom - a story about the .real life. experiences of otakus as they attend an anime con in this very popular fan parody.

Special Shows

BECK Mongolian Chop Squad Summer Tour: A selection of three BECK episodes that highlight the music and spirit of the BECK Mongolian Chop Squad.

Animania: A documentary that reveals the fascinating world of Japanese anime and teens' interest in it as an entertaining hobby; from wearing costumes of their favourite characters, to living out their fantasy world at conventions.

Anime Uncovered: An in-depth look into the fascinating world of anime: how anime is made, the origins in Japan, and the worldwide fan base. To be screened with Animania.

Daicon III and IV Opening Animations: These short animations were shown at the 20th and 22nd Japan Science Fiction Conventions (known as Daicon), respectively. These very rare classics were created by amateur artists who went on to form Gainax, the animation studio that created Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Cinema Anime

Watch anime as they were meant to be seen: on the big screen! A small selection of feature length movies will be shown in the H-110 cinema.
