If you can think and act quickly under pressure and still have fun, we invite you to take part in any of our game shows (contests) during your stay at Otakuthon. We have game shows that can test your luck, knowledge and even your physical capabilities. Impress everyone with whatever you’ve got to win some Otaku Yen to exchange for a prize at our prize table, located at the back of the Game Shows room.
Prize System Otaku Yen
Game shows winners will receive Otaku Yen which can be traded in for prizes at the prize table located in the Game Shows room. The amount of Otaku Yen received will be determined by the level of difficulty of the game show. Every winner is guaranteed to receive enough Otaku Yen for a prize!
Are you a seiyū?
Test your budding voice actor skills in a friendly showdown. You will be challenged on a variety of interesting scenes. Some scenes will be as easy as saying “PikaPi!” while others are more complicated like a soliloquy from Death Note’s Kira!
Dance-Off Battle (in French)
Think you have the moves to win? Then the Dance Off Battle is the game show for you. Face off against fellow dancers with your improvised dance moves. May the best performance win!
Anime Name That Tune
In this popular game, players must guess the name of the anime title of the tune being played. They must give the right answer in 15 seconds or less to gain a point. The player with the highest score at the end wins.
Otakuthon-Style Bingo (in French)
Who here has never played bingo? Numbers will be replaced by words or sentences taken from the anime universe. Will you be able to keep up?
Pokémon Challenge
Come have fun with two types of challenges : Pokémon Trivia and “Who’s that Pokémon?”. You will need to know their names and be able to recognize them from all 9 generations before attempting this challenge! (We will use the American names.)
Trixy’s Surprise Egg (in French)
Ever wished to win the lottery? Well, here is your big chance to win big time! Participants of all ages can come and try their luck. It’s a simple choice between a plain envelope and the Golden Egg. Will you play it safe and take the revealed prize in the envelope or will you risk it and give up the envelope prize for a chance to get what’s inside the Golden Egg?
Mimic Like You Want to Win
An interactive memory game where you need to get physical! Are you flexible? How good is your memory? What about your acting skills? Watch a short video clip of a dance, a one-liner or a “technique”, then mimic what you saw. It could be anything from the poses and the dialogue of the Sailor Moon introduction to the “Kamehameha” in Dragon Ball Z!
Guess That Character
Can you easily recognize your favourite and not-so-favourite characters? Come test your memory and your eyes in a game that will require you to identify anime characters and from which anime they belong!
Nani? Anime Guessing Game
In this guessing game, four images related to an anime will be shown. Your goal is to link those images to guess the title of the anime.
Anime Speedtune
It’s back! The competitive anime tune game returns to Otakuthon with even more gimmicks and tricks. Will anyone be able to upset the veteran players?
All the players are selected at the Qualifier on Friday.
Anime Lip Sync Battle
The Anime Lip Sync Battle takes place on a stage on which two or more performers battle it out by mouthing the lyrics of a song, all while giving a show with moves that will wow the audience. This event will be hosted by a Drag Queen.
Poorly Described Anime
Guess the anime title by its bad description! Whoever has the most points wins!
Video Game Name That Tune
Similar to the popular “Anime Name That Tune,” 4 players go head to head in a race to get the most points out of 10 tracks that would play per game. The players will have 30 seconds to guess where the game is from to get one point, and 2 more bonus points if they can tell us during which “occasion” that song will play during the game.
Anime Mystery Dating Game (18+)
Four participants are randomly drawn. One participant is the “date” and the other three are the “suitors”. The date asks questions to the potential suitors and, based on their answers, ranks the suitors from third to first place.
