Valérie Harvey
Valérie Harvey lived in Kyōto for three years. She now teaches a university course on manga. She has written several books, including novels inspired by Japan: Les Fleurs du Nord (Parallel Universes Youth Prize, 2018), L’Ombre du Shinobi (finalist for the 2020 Quebec City Literary Creation Prize), and L’Héritage du Kami (2020). She also translated the works of Japanese children’s poet Misuzu Kaneko into French in the beautiful book Nous sommes tous différents et nous sommes tous beaux (2019). Her academic research has focused on birth rates in Japan and the involvement of fathers in both Quebec and Japan. As a sociologist, she contributes to various programs, particularly on CBC Radio.
