All About The Music: an event created to unite local bands and musicians to perform for those who want to dance, headbang or sing along! This year, two bands will take the stage: Ties & Ribbons, with a set list of songs from a variety of anime or J-Rock artists, and Tortuga, with interpretations inspired by some of your favorite video games! Who’s ready to rock? Come have a blast!

Ties & Ribbons

Ties & Ribbons is back for their third year at Otakuthon! After their small performances at the Cosplay Café and the Otakuthon Halloween party in 2014, as well as their performance on the big stage in 2015, they’ve revamped and they’re stepping up their game! After the departure of two of their members and the recruitment of a new one, the number of rehearsals and songs has increased. More interestingly, several compositions are in the works. 

Happily, the five members share an interest in anime and video games which help them pick and choose what songs to play. It also inspires them when it comes to writing music. Their newfound chemistry makes them excellent bandmates and good friends. Each member also plays a key role in the band; while one is knowledgeable in the technical side of things (like recording), another is in charge of public relations or writing lyrics. 

Get ready for another set of fun and energetic songs from your favourite animes and J-rock bands!

Tortuga

Tortuga is a Montreal-based rock-metal musical group dedicated to bringing back to life video game classics. Newly formed, the group is able to grasp the essence and love of their favourite video games while giving them a new dimension. The five musicians composing the group first met through the Orchestre de Jeux Vidéo and share the same passions: music, obviously, and video games.  Each musician is able to bring a unique touch and distinct sound both in writing and in interpretation thanks to their accomplished musical careers. Sometimes heavy, sometimes melodious, Tortuga will take you from one universe to another so that your inner gamer will be filled with nostalgia.
