Communications Department

Information Desk

Provide basic information and directions for convention goers on day of convention.

Responsibilities & Requisites:  [ Day-of-Con ]

  • Must be able to man information booth for a minimum of 8 hours
  • Must have good speaking skills (able to articulate and communicate ideas clearly and effectively).
  • Must have good communication skills (able to describe locations and provide clear directions)
  • Must be polite and cordial at all times.
  • Customer service or retail service sector experience is an asset.
  • Must be bilingual.

Operations Department

Logistics Director

Maintains and updates convention floor plans, organizes equipment deployment plans.

Responsibilities & Requisites:  [Pre-Con] [ Day-of-Con ]

  • Maintain floor plans for convention space
  • Ensure that provided plans comply with all venue regulation
  • Ensure other groups have adequate equipment/materials lists and install plans
  • Provide support with regards to quotes for said equipment/materials

Drivers

Responsible for driving a vehicle (car or truck) for transporting equipment.

Responsibilities & Requisites:  [Pre-Con] [ Day-of-Con ]

  • Provide transportation services for the convention to pick up and drop off equipment before, during and after the convention (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday).  Please provide availabilities.

 

Volunteers Department

Priority Access Pass (PAP) Control Director

Manages and executes the Priority Access Pass (PAP) system.

Responsibilities & Requisites:  [ Day-of-Con ]

  • Responsible for the smooth and proper operation of the Priority Access Pass (PAP) system on the day of convention (Priority Access Pass is a special pass purchased by convention-goers which allows them to enter main events through a priority entrance and bypass waiting in line).
  • Helps with crowd control during the events in absence of Crowd Control Director.
  • Must be fully bilingual, patient, and be able to resolve problems and conflicts pertaining to the PAP system.

Access Control Director

Manages personnel who are responsible for allowing access to the venue and restricted areas.

Responsibilities & Requisites:  [ Day-of-Con ]

  • Responsible for the smooth and proper operation of badge checking and access control of restricted areas on the day of convention.
  • Helps with crowd control during the events in absence of Crowd Control Director.
  • Must be fully bilingual, patient, and be able to resolve problems and conflicts arising from access control.

 

Registration Department

Registration Team Staff

Accepts and processes registrations and pre-registrations on the day of convention.

Responsibilities & Requisites:  [ Day-of-Con ]

  • Responsible for assisting with setup and teardown of registration area
  • Responsible for handling money for registration, completing the administrative sections of the registration form and providing badges.
  • Responsible for responding to general inquiries concerning registration.
  • Must be available for 16 hours or more during the convention for registration duties (3 days)
  • Must be available the day before the convention during the day for registration training and provide instructions to new volunteers who are not part of the registration team as necessary.
  • Must have a sense of responsibility, good judgment and apply registration regulations.
  • Must be bilingual.
  • Must be computer-literate.
